Does the Body by Vi diet work?

Monday, December 5th, 2011

A close friend has recently been testing the Body by Vi diet. In a word, Yes. he personally, lost 6 1/2 lbs. in one week. Read what he has to say, as I interview him about his experience with the Body by Vi diet below.

Is it safe? I believe so. It consists of meal replacement shake which, honestly taste soooo good, it is hard to believe that it can be good for you…..my favorite recipe is the shake mix, with one half small banana, four or five strawberries and one cup of skim milk. Unnnnn-believable. I found that I was full, sometimes too full to the point of feeling stuffed, like I ate too many pancakes. I found my energy levels to be quite level with no apparent, crashes or slumps in the mid-morning or afternoon. The Vi-shake is made up of only the highest quality premium ingredients containing ….well, I really can’t explain it as good as their website does.

How much weight do you plan to lose? My ultimate goal……..is 110 lbs.

So you have a way to go then? Yes, but really, I’m simply amazed by this stuff. You do your weigh in, measurements and stuff, start the program. You just replace any 2 meals with a shake, and thats it. I have one in the morning another at lunch, and eat a regular supper or dinner. I haven’t really thought about snacking in the evening. After only 2 days, i stepped on the scale, you know, just to see, and boom, there it was in the glass, I actually stepped off the scale and back on, yep, I’d lost 3 lbs. It was a great feeling. You know, and I know, I don’t have time to eat properly, maybe it is just poor time management, but the fact is I wasn’t getting my proper nutrition……I’m a guy. So losing 3 lbs. in 2 days made me feel very positive about the road I am on.

Don’t you think you could manage your time better, to eat properly? Well maybe, but i’m weak willed, I guess, call it what you will, at this stage in my life I have all thes deadlines, got to be here, there, everywhere, there is only so much time in the day. So i used to stop at mcDonald’s or somewhere like that and grab something, cause i knew I had to eat. I never really thought about it before but since I’ve been on this diet, I started looking around on the net to compare what I’m doing now to what i used to do, so I found this article that said a Egg McMuffin had 300 calories, 12 grams fat, 5 grams saturated fat, 260 mg cholesterol, 820 mg sodium, and only 2 grams of fiber. And what I thought would be a healthy choice, like a sit down type breakfast was even worse!

What would you normally have for breakfast? Well forget about a muffin and a cup of black coffee! I wouldn’t last 10 minutes and I’d be wanting more, so normally, I would eat say some scrambled eggs, 3 or 4 strips of bacon, 3 pork sausages, some multi grain toast, and a glass or 2 of milk……that would keep me full but that is a 1400 calorie breakfast…

Wow! So you find this to bewiser choice for you, I think that its great, but what about the cost? Yeah, thats the great thing about this, it costs less than 4 bucks a day. I used to spend that on cans of Coke.

And you don’t any more? No, i mean, I haven’t had the craving for them like I used to, not that I dislike Coke, but I think I seemed to grab them for energy, just to keep going. I don’t seem to feel the need for one.

So you would recommend others like yourself, to try the Body by Vi? Yes, without a doubt.

And I think, so would I.

How You Can Easily Trim Off Those Extra BBQ Season Inches

How do I trim off those extra BBQ season inches and pounds? Blush

It is easy to add on a few extra pounds and inches, with entertaining friends and relatives during summer. Hosting backyard barbecues, going for brunches, late nights, maybe you rediscovered how good Paralyzers go down on a hot summers night on your deck talking about old times. So add in, a lack of sleep, well, you get the picture. Now is the perfect time to get reacquainted with the body image you want and the one you have. Take a picture of yourself, take some measurements, thighs, hips, waist and biceps, now weigh yourself, on a good scale like the EatSmart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale. Record all this information, either in a journal, or on your computer.

I recently discovered a really some cool little Apps for the Google Android phones for the HCG diet. This little miracle helps you out when your shopping, planning meals. Now I haven’t reviewed the HCG diet just yet, so I really cannot comment on it….But, the fact someone has developed this handy little application for my phone has me thinking I am going to have to check it out. The price is less than 10 bucks….

To help you keep track of your efforts, because you know I’m going to recommend getting to know your neighbourhood again…..on foot! If your don’t already have have pedometer to count steps, distance, and if you have a better model, calories burnt, you should check out the Fitbit Wireless Personal Trainer. I really like this one, I like the style and features of this one.

Combine this with the inspirationally titled journal called, I Will Get Fit This Time, that will help you keep track of your efforts on paper, I, myself am a strong believer in visualization. By simply writing down your goals, and by reaffirming your achievements, you will become a believer in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself or your goals…….there is little hope of attaining them….so do you believe in yourself? Say Yes right now to yourself. Do it and say it, till you believe it!

Start with a short walk, get some fresh air, and warm up slowly, after 10 minutes, pick up the pace, challenge some hills, feel some pump in those legs, swing those arms, move those hips baby, your toning up and on your way to losing weight! Now circle your way back home, slow down, cool down or warm down on your way home. Reward yourself with a glass of water or two, and a orange to help get rid of the lactic acid build up. Avoid Soft drinks and junk food!

Repeat Daily

How to lose belly fat fast?

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

I was just wondering what is the fastest way to lose belly fat?

For most of us who are overweight, we seem to have the most fat on our belly. And when someone wants to lose weight, the main thing they really want to do is lose belly fat.

Some say obesity is an epidemic these days, but we beg to differ. WE think belly fat is the real epidemic. Yes, there are plenty of people who have fat on their arms and legs, or evenly distributed throughout their bodies, but the majority of overweight people today harbor more fat on their belly than anywhere else on the body.

And there’s a reason for it. Today’s life is hectic, rushed, and stressful. We don’t routinely cook anymore, and when we do it’s not actually cooking at all. Instead, we warm up microwave meals, or mix something with water out of a box. If it can’t be ready in a few minutes, most people won’t bother with it.

That’s convenience. That’s why fast food is so popular… we don’t have to spend any time or effort on it. But that’s also why we have so much belly fat in the United States today.Try this math on for size: Your typical full size hamburger, small fries and Coke equals out to be around 1000 calories. Not only does the average woman only require 1800-2500 calories per day, this meal will exceed both fat and sodium requirements by a large margin. That 1000 calorie feast is usually consumed in half an hour or less, (considerably less if eaten while driving). It took half an hour to consume; now how long will it take to burn off that same amount of calories? Depending on the activity it could take two hours on up to about six.

You see, your body is a very smart, very efficient machine. When you feed it junk and convenience foods, you’re not giving it much in the way of nutrition. Instead you’re actually giving it a lot of sugar and empty calories.

The body thinks you’re starving, though. Since there’s no decent nutrition being fed to it, you must be in the midst of a famine. So the body’s job is to keep you alive. And if it thinks you’re in a famine phase, it will store away anything it can, in any way it can. And this usually ends up meaning you get more fat stores added.

Now the body creates these extra fat stores on your belly, because that’s the core part of your body. You need your arms and legs to run away from predators and survive in general. Over hundreds of thousands of years, the body has evolved to allow you easier free use of your arms and legs.

This is all part of the body’s built-in survival mechanism.

The body hasn’t had time to adapt to modern uses of itself. It evolved into it’s current state over thousands of years, but we’ve just begun to use convenience foods and processed, chemical-loaded junk in the past hundred. So it’s still doing what it needs to ensure you stay alive; thus you get fat created on your belly.

Getting rid of belly fat is fairly easy to do, but most of us don’t like it. Why? Because it generally involves not eating those sugary and convenient foods we adore so much these days.

Anyone got a good workout suggestion on how to lose fat fast?

Monday, October 19th, 2009

I use to be a cross country runner 3 years ago now I’m not as strong as back then. I got muscles from doing sit ups and push ups but there is a problem. I still got a layer of fat sort of covering my muscles from showing… I need to know a workout that would get rid of that layer of fat from the arm, legs, belly, and etc. My fat is sort of covering my muscles and it pisses me off that my muscles were for nothing. Please I just need to know some tricks how to lose fat quick. I don’t wanna hear dieting aka starving and liposuction. Just give me a good exercise routine. Thank you all for reading and I appreciate it.

to burn fat you need to burn calories. you can keep working out to maintain and better your current muscle(more muscle means more calories burnt fyi). you need to run everyday, and do a lot of walking. sleep well also.

im just like you, and it sucks so much to have a stupid layer of fat in the worst places! ive been running for awhile and its definitely going away. i hate being patient but thats what you gotta do.

one more thing to add.. dairy is great for making your body more willing to lose fat when you burn the calories..

the words are a little confusing at a first glance, but the graphs are pretty good.

How can I lose fat fast?

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

I’m around 5′2" and weigh 180 pounds. I really really wanna lose body fat because people tell me I’m pretty….but I don’t believe them. Losing weight will give me better confidence in myself. Plus I want my boyfriend to love my body as well as my face. So does anyone know how to do it quickly? I would really like to lose at least 40 pounds of fat, more would be cool too ^_^. I’ve been eating healthier food and I would like to lose fat fast but while doing it naturally. Does anyone know the best way in order to do that? I would like to lose a noticeable amount of weight before I go back to school in September….so…..can anyone help me?

If you’ve already changed your diet, you’re on the right path. Start exercising. Something as simple as walking will help you shed the weight. Exercising and eating right are the best way to do things. Just dont get discouraged at slow progress. When it comes to weight loss, it helps to be realistic. 40 pounds by september is ALOT. You want to aim for losing about 2 pounds a week (thats whats reccomended as healthy), but depending on you and your body type, you may lose more of less. Just keep motivated and stick with it. It will be worth it in the end.

what is the healthiest way to lose fat fast?

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

i only need to lose like 2-5 pounds but here’s the problem:

i am a very healthy person. i’m really active (i play soccer on top of a lot of other sports) and eat really, really well (my mom’s a health freak). but i have a little bit of flab on my tummy and upper thighs that just won’t leave!!! how do i get rid of it fast (before i have to go away to a co-ed overnight camp)??

i already know some excersies you’re supposed to do but those don’t seem to help at all. i feel like i’ve reached a plateau and i can’t get that extra flab off no matter what i do!!! no matter how many sit-ups (i do like 100 a day, seriously) or thigh-lifts i do!!

by the way, i am 14. and i’m not one of those weird weight-obsessed people, i just really want to lose the flab quickly.

any suggestions?

i would like to lose it by july 22, if that is possible.
i do eat regular meals through out the day but i don’t eat too much and by healthy i mean fruits and veggies and all that good stuff.

i play soccer competitively and do horseback riding. the overnight camp is a sports camp.

i can not see what i am doing wrong!!!

i’m not really overweight at all – there’s just a little bit of flab there that WILL NOT GO AWAY!!! does anyone know any tricks to get flab off?

When you eat less calories than you burn, you will lose weight. It doesn’t matter if it is carrot sticks – eat more than you burn in a day and you will gain weight. The potato toppings are nothing more than added calories. The more calories that you add on top of eating more than you burn in a day simply means that you will gain weight faster.

Get it? I could feed you candy bars dipped in lard and help you lose weight. It doesn’t matter what kind of food it is. I could also feed you celery and carrots and cause you to gain weight and get fat – if you eat more calories than you burn in a day.

You need to question what weight loss is to you. Will you be satisfied with your appearance once you get there? I am a personal trainer, and I could tell you that the answer is "no" most of the time. Once you lose the weight you want to lose, you will look in the mirror and feel that you need to look more tone. Your waist will still be larger than you want it to be and you will not like the shape your body is in (especially with less clothing).

There is only one right way to do it and below is a few major variables that you need to do it right.

Ask yourself this – do you want to just lose weight or do you want to lose (much) more fat than muscle? The more muscle you burn, the slower your metabolism becomes for one, since calories are burnt through usage of the muscle. The more muscle you have firing, the faster you burn calories; the faster your metabolism. Keeping your muscle while dieting will also make a huge difference as to how you look when you achieve your weight loss goal – and adding a bit will work wonders.

People want to lose "pounds." Here is something to consider. Bare with it if it becomes confusing and be comforted in the fact that simple directions follow even if you do not understand some of what you read immediately below.

One pound of FAT = 3500 calories

One pound of LEAN MUSCLE = roughly 2500-3000 calories (varies due to hydration).

See? Potentially, you could burn 2500 calories and lose a pound of muscle, or you could burn 3500 calories to lose a pound of fat, or you could burn the two in different proportions, meaning you could burn anywhere in the range of 2500-3500 calories and lose a "pound."

Surely you want to burn fat and hold onto as much muscle as you can. The best defense to ensure this, generally speaking, is to eat protein with every meal. Why? To spare your body from losing muscle, which IS protein. If your body needs amino acids for energy (muscle is made up of protein and protein is made up of amino acids) it will eat the protein that you feed it rather than breaking down your muscles for energy. Therefore, you stand a better chance of maintaining your muscle.

A safe place to start is to first determine the amount of calories that you currently burn. The first step is to go to a calculator on a website (search for "calorie counter" on Google). That will give you a rough estimate. Next, subtract 500 calories from that to put you on pace to lose one pound of fat per week (-500 calories times 7 days equals -3500 calories per week = one pound of fat loss.) Remember, eat protein with every meal. Generally speaking, you should eat roughly 20-35 grams to be safe. If you find that you are losing more than one pound per week, that means that you are losing muscle. If this is the case, you can take another step that will ensure that you will minimize muscle loss.

To ensure you are burning fat and not muscle as you restrict your calories, you should exercise since your body is adaptive. This means that to keep muscle, you have to give your body a reason to do so such as working out. If you work the muscle, your body basically says, "We have to hold onto the muscle to do all of this work, so we can’t burn it for energy. We’ll have to use the fat, as it is less important to our survival." Hence, you get lean and reach the image you have in your mind; your goal.

Trust me! In most cases the end result of "losing weight" doesn’t look good. You can disguise it in clothes and other out of shape people may think you look "great," but nothing beats a fit body. It doesn’t have to be an extreme physique, like in the magazines, but a little exercise goes a long way with proper dieting. And you will realize countless benefits, in addition to enhanced good looks!

Good Luck

how do i lose my belly fat fast?

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

I’m a little person and had 3 kids, im in shape other then i have belly fat how can i lose it fast?
I broke my ankle and im limed to some things like running.

Do Crunches. Lie on the floor (with or without a mat). Cross your arms in front of your chest. (Donot place both hands behind your head. Placing both hands behind your head can cause lower back problems in the long run as it places unnecessary stress on that part of your body from pulling on your head and neck.) Another alternative to crossing your arms in front of your chest is to lightly place your finger tips behind your ears, without pulling on your neck or ears to help raise you off the floor. Draw in your abdomen towards your spine while inhaling through your nose. Now raise your shoulders (upper torso) towards your knees, using strictly your abdominal muscles. It is very important not to lift your entire back off the floor, as this can cause back strain, and the extended movement does not help you develop six pack abs any faster. The most important part of the crunch is the initial flexing of your abs as you lift your shoulders off of the floor. As soon as you begin lifting off the floor exhale through your mouth, ending with a gasp once your shoulders are off the floor. Then pause for a second once you are at the top of the crunch and exhale the last bit of air from your diaphragm while flexing your abs. The proper breathing and flexing make all the difference. Now lower back down slowly and controlled while inhaling through your nose, just until your shoulder blades touch the ground. Do not let your head touch the ground and repeat.

Do Sit Ups. Lie on the floor, feet on the floor, knees up and hands behind your head or crossed on your chest. Sit all the way up, lifting your lower back off the floor along with your shoulder blades. Lower yourself down. Repeat. Once this becomes relatively easy for you (i.e. you can do a quite a bit with ease) start adding more challenges. Find an incline bench or do these on an exercise ball. Once you "graduate" from that, do weighted sit ups. Hold a weight on your chest while you do these. As these become easier, hold heavier and heavier weights. You might also try lifting your feet off the ground while doing the sit ups or alternating the leg in the air, like pretending to pedal while sitting up. If your hands are behind your head, bring your left knee up to touch your right elbow and then your right knee to the left elbow.
Do Leg Lifts. Lie on the floor, legs straight out, hands at your sides. Lift your legs straight up (not bending your knees at all) until they’re at a ninety degree angle (or close). Lower your legs and repeat without letting your legs touch the floor. For more challenge there is equipment at most gyms that will allow you to raise yourself up using your arms as support and dangle your legs. You can perform leg lifts there too. If you’re using this piece of equipment, you can make it easier by just raising your knees to your chest. It’s more difficult to raise your legs to a horizontal position with your legs straight. This helps firm up the lower abdomen. If you’re truly a monster, try doing leg lifts with a medicine ball hanging from your feet. Or hang from a pull up bar and raise your legs in front of you all the way up to the bar. Still too easy?…
Do Jackknife Sit Ups. Lie down flat on the floor. Place your hands on the ground to your sides for balance; you can pick them up as you get used to the movement. Simultaneously raise your knees and torso so that your knees and face meet on an imaginary line extending from your pelvis to the ceiling. You should be able to kiss your knees at the top of the motion. Your legs will naturally fold bringing your feet towards your hips, much like a jackknife. Lie back down (i.e. "spread out") and repeat. Place a weight between your feet when you think you can handle it. What’s that? More?
Do V-ups. Lie on the floor, legs straight out, hands on the floor but this time extended out over your head. Simultaneously raise legs and torso. Don’t bend your knees! What kind of V would it be if you bend your knees? Reach with your hands toward the raised feet. Touch your feet if possible (might require some flexibility). Relax, return to starting position and repeat. Add weight between feet to match your taste.
Static Hold and Side Statics. Put your body into the push-up position but with your elbows on the floor, and you whole body flat. This position is known as the static hold position and it trains your core (including your abs) to hold the body in place which is the real purpose of your abs. Hold this position for as long as possible, but you should be aiming to start off with at least 45 seconds, while seasoned ab workers known to achieve over 20 minute static holds. To perform the side static hold roll onto one side of your body and lift into the same position as before, but this time only one arm will be on the ground with the other arm pointed straight up the air and your non-weight bearing leg resting on your bottom leg. Once again, hold this for as long as possible
Train Your Oblique Muscles. It’s not as important to work on your oblique muscles at first, but eventually you’ll want to start working these too. These are the muscles to either side of your stomach. There are multiple ways to do this and anything that includes twisting your torso against a resistance counts. There are twisting machines at gyms, you can twist while you do sit-ups, you can do side bends, you can twist side to side with a medicine ball in hand, etc. Be aware though, that many beginners tend to have weak obliques compared to their abs (it simply isn’t used as much in daily life) so go easy on the sides at first.
Other stuff Since it is, literally, the center of your body there are many other tricks you can use to train your abs, and some of the other movements will more or less involve your abs. Including every abdominal exercise in existence would make this article painfully long and new methods are being developed constantly. Now that you’ve made up your mind about a washboard mid-section, get creative! Find new ways to crunch, bend and twist in your daily life. Some possibilities include:
Use a stability ball. Do your crunches on the ball to introduce instability to your workout, which will improve your balance too. There are also lots of core exercises that can be done with a stability ball. You can also use a small bubble use for physical therapy.
Duck and twist during your daily routine. Reach with your left hand to things on your right and vice versa. If you feel like turning around to face something, see if you can do it with keeping your hips in place and twisting at the waist (warning: awkward when talking to other people, use only against inanimate objects). While walking or standing, pretend that something is coming toward you and you have to duck to get out of the way. Do this as often as you are comfortable or at times when it won’t look weird. You can bend forward from the hips or, if you’re really into it, bend at the knees too and really "sink" out of the way.

Lose Fat
Lift Weights. The more muscle your body has, the more calories your body burns, even at rest. Many people are afraid of getting huge due to weight lifting. This is meaningless. You will NOT gain a lot of mass if you’re not taking in a lot of calories as well. Also keep in mind that most of the huge people you see on TV or in print achieve that state by going on high protein and high carb diets. They increase their calorie intake specifically to bulk up. So the fear of bulking up should NOT be a reason to not lift weights. As a rule of thumb, the larger the muscle the more energy it will burn to sustain itself. Therefore the most effective muscle groups to work for fat loss are large muscle groups: thighs and hamstrings, the back, and the chest. You can also lift your body weight without going to a gym, through push ups, sit ups, chin ups, etc.

Do Cardio. No matter how muscular your abs are that six pack isn’t going to show if you cover it up with a layer of fat. Running, biking, swimming, stair climbing, jumping rope, tennis, volleyball, dancing, squash or any other activity that gets you moving and keeps you moving is a great way to burn fat. However, a cardio workout should be performed for at least 20 MINUTES to burn fat. Prior to this your body will simply run on its stored energy, which results in minimal fat loss. Cardio should always be done after your weight lifting workout. While lifting weights, you use stored, (carb) energy, thus, by doing cardio after weight training your body will have less stored energy to use and go straight into the fat storage for its energy use. The overall best way to shed fat fast is to do cardio(30 min minimum) right when you wake up. Your body will search for energy to use, when it finds nothing in your stomach, it will go directly to your fat storage for energy and the fat will burn up so fast!
Diet TipsKeep Metabolism Steady. Eating one small meal (such as a potato, a salad, etc.) every three hours that you are awake will not speed up your metabolism, rather, it will keep it going. Your metabolism goes and slows with your food intake and eating something small every three hours will keep that metabolism burning calories and will help you lose weight.
Eat Smaller Dinners. Cut down on the size of your dinner. If you’re hungry, snack on fruits or other healthy, low calorie snacks. Large dinners tend to hurt a fat loss process because most people aren’t very active after dinner. This is the basis for advice along the lines of "don’t eat anything within X hours before going to bed". The claim that your entire dinner is stored as fat isn’t entirely true (the process is more complicated than that) but the fact you don’t move after dinner is enough to hurt your cause. You can offset this by eating a larger lunch or snacking healthily before dinner. Fresh fruits or vegetables are excellent choices for curbing appetite not to mention other health benefits. A handful of nuts might do the same. Drink a large glass of water before sitting at the table.
Eat More Fiber. Most people don’t get enough fiber. The recommended amount is actually not that much if you eat a healthy diet. "Fiber foods" include whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and nuts and seeds. Other options are fiber supplements.
Eat Breakfast. Many people skip breakfast because they don’t have time for it. Keep this in mind: You don’t have time to skip breakfast, it’s simply too valuable to skip. The fact that skipping breakfast messes up your concentration and other mental functions is beyond the scope of this article. The harm of skipping breakfast from a weight loss perspective is it makes you eat a huge lunch since your body hasn’t had anything in the past 12 (or more) hours. When you eat a huge lunch you get that after meal drowsiness so now you’re both unproductive and inactive. Cereals don’t take much time to prepare and consume, and most of them are very healthy nowadays. If you are extremely pressed for time, consider grabbing a box of breakfast bars or a smoothie and throwing one in your bag when you leave for work or school. Some breakfast bars out there are also excellent sources of fiber.
Eat Smaller Meals More Frequently. This helps raise your metabolism too. It’s not easy to do though since it’s a relatively big change to most people’s routines. But it doesn’t have to be a full blown meal, simply eat often but less. A jar of nuts in the office will do just fine, grab a handful when you feel like it. Most fruits can last for a couple days without refrigeration, and if you have a refrigerator at the office, make use of it.

Drink More Water Everyday. Many places suggest 8 cups (2 L) of water a day. It sounds like an absurd amount of water, but actually, you can drink tea without sugar to make up some of the quota. In fact tea, especially green tea, rev up your "metabolism" (actually cause a temporary increase in calories burned).
For fat loss purposes, it is important to remind yourself that thirst is a much weaker stimuli than hunger. If you consistantly feel hungry after meals, don’t immediately think that you need to eat more. You may simply be thirsty!
Needless to say there are many benefits of water. 69% of your body is made of it!
